Helping the Local Church
become a place hurting people run to, not away from
“To me, one of the saddest things is when people dealing with emotional pain make a step toward God by knocking on the door of a church and it doesn’t go well.”
Over the past several years, we have heard from Christian leaders all over the globe: “we feel ill-equipped to handle the mental health issues and emotional challenges faced by those in our churches and we need help.”
That is why I created Churches That Heal: an all-new, digital toolkit designed to equip pastors and churches to handle issues of mental health in their communities through a biblical and psychologically-sound path of healing. The opportunity for the Church to engage in mental health conversations is unprecedented and never been needed more.
Pastors are not exempt from the pain experienced by their congregants, and additionally, face unique pressures as a result of their calling. The widespread stress, the burnout, and the public failures of pastors has deeply saddened me, and led me to also create a special track just for the healing of pastors’ hearts.
Churches That Heal is the culmination of my life’s work in the arena of mental health and the next step in my desire to help ensure the local church is the best place for hurting people to find healing. I’m honored to share this new resource with you and link arms as we build local churches that hurting people run to, not away from.
I pray the local church becomes a beacon for healing in communities all around the world and that every church will become a church that heals.

“Our church, Church of the Free, is an exceptional grace filled church. Churches that Heal allowed us to walk thru God’s design with our member for healing and growth with this equation: Grace + Truth + Time. The videos, workbooks, and questions in the workbook allowed us to deliver consistent experience for groups without putting the burden on the group facilitator or leader. It’s been life giving by allowing u to foster connections and communities within the body.”

“The resources available from Churches That Heal have been invaluable in my ministry and in our church. One of the most difficult parts of ministry for me is knowing when and where to refer when an issue is too big for me. Dr. Cloud’s video on the subject has changed the way I help people and refer to professionals. We are a better, healthier, stronger congregation because of the Churches That Heal resource.”
